    Cambodia holiday experiences

    • When visiting Siem Reap you are staying in the gateway of the Temples of Angkor. This world famous UNESCO World Heritage site allows you to wonder around the ruins and explore this archaeological site for yourself. The most popular site at Angkor is the 12th Century Angkor Wat temple. It is a national symbol and is at the very heart of Khmer civilisation. It has been in continuous use since it was built.
    • The Royal Palace, The National Museum, Tuol Sleng Museum of Genocidal Crimes and a Russian Market, Phnom Penh is an experience of both emotion and the senses. The Museum of Genocidal Crimes is housed in the former Pol Pot prison, “Security Prison 21”. It is a testament to the terrible crimes committed by the Khmer Rouge. Tuol Sleng is a depressing tour, but one that is poignant if you are interested in Khmer history. It also charts how this country has rebuilt itself since that dark time, and is today one of the most vibrant and energetic countries in the world.
    • Ornate and glinting in the sun, the Royal Palace strikes a resemblance to its cousin in Bangkok. It is the official residence of King Sihamoni, so some areas are closed to the public. Sundays are busy with locals coming to pay their respects, and is a great time to experience the atmosphere.
    • If you want to pick up souvenirs to take back home then head to the Russian Market. Hot, busy and chaotic, it is a great place to pick up local woodcarvings and beetle nut boxes. There are plenty of bargains to be had. Once you have exhausted the cities head to Sihanoukville, Cambodia’s luxury beach resort, with glorious white sand beaches and crystal clear seas.
