Eligibility - Who is eligible to return to/enter Qatar, on which dates, and under what conditions.

Who needs to go into quarantine upon arrival into Qatar, and can I self isolate or book my own hotel?

Depending upon your country of origin, from 1st August you will either be required to self-isolate at home for a period of 7 days, or go into a self funded quarantine for 7 days, followed by 7 days self-isolation at home. All permitted arrivals into Qatar must download and register for the Etheraz App before arrival. The following is a summary of who is currently permitted to arrive into Qatar and what quarantine conditions apply (subject to change so please check our FAQ’s on a regular basis for updates)

For Qatari Nationals, their travel companions, those with a Permanent Resident Card or those with approved entry, returning to Doha from 15 June – 15 September:

All travelers departing from Qatar before 1st August will need to book and pay for one of the approved quarantine hotel packages, which must be booked before departure from Qatar, if the return date is planned on or before 15 September, and the exceptions listed below are not satisfied

Check in at HIA will not be permitted without a confirmed quarantine reservation, if arrival back into Qatar is before 15 September and the return country is not on the list of low risk countries, and one or more of the exceptions below are not satisfied.

Eligible travelers currently outside Qatar will also need to book and pay for one of the approved quarantine hotel packages. From 23 July the mandatory self funded quarantine period is 7 days, followed by 7 days self-isolation at home, if arriving back into Doha on or before 15 September from any country not on the list of low risk countries or if not eligible for home quarantine. Bookings can be made at Qatar Airways Holidays in partnership with Discover Qatar. Only Qatari Nationals, their travelling companions, those with a Permanent Resident Card or other eligible Visa holders, will be permitted to arrive into Qatar before 1 August 2020.

If you plan to travel from a low risk country, you need to have been in that country for at least 72 hours before you will be allowed to travel to Qatar and home quarantine. If you have not been in that country for 72 hours you will be considered to have travelled from a non-low risk country and will be required to enter self funded quarantine for 7 days, followed by 7 days self isolation at home.

Exceptions to the self funded 7 day quarantine, which are instead required to undertake 7 days mandatory home self isolation, are:

Foreign Diplomats, with approval to enter Qatar, are exempt from the mandatory quarantine requirements.

Holders of ID cards issues by MOFA are exempt from the mandatory quarantine requirements.

Travelers returning from one of the low risk countries listed on the MOPH website

Travellers that are identified by MOPH as exempted categories eligible for home quarantine

See MOPH website for further details

Arrivals from countries that are not included in the list of low-risk countries and in which COVID-19 testing centres have been accredited are required to obtain a virus-free certificate from there no more than 48 hours before travelling.

The Ministry of Public Health has identified the following categories eligible for home quarantine for 7 days, regardless of the country from which they arrived:

QID holders returning to Qatar from one of the countries on the low risk will be required to self isolate at home for a period of 7 days.

If you plan to travel from a low risk country, you need to have been in that country for at least 72 hours before you will be allowed to travel to Qatar and home quarantine.
