A Journey to Kerala - 6 nights/7 days

  • Welcome to Cochin
    • Upon arrival at Cochin International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to hotel by a private vehicle (for customers arriving early in the morning, the room will be pre-booked at an additional cost)
    • Afternoon, around 1400hrs - guided tour of the city including visits of the Chinese fishing nets, Mattancherry Palace, Jewish Synagogue (closed on Fridays and Saturdays) and St. Francis Church the oldest European church in India. 
    • The tour will end at the Kathakali centre with a Kathakali show. You will witness the makeup session and the dance will start at 1800hrs for an hour. 
    • Overnight stay at the hotel in Cochin. 
  • Cochin to Munnar
    • Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. 
    • Check out and leave for Munnar by a private vehicle. The journey will be around 5 hours depending on the traffic. 
    • Munnar is a town in the Western Ghats mountain range. A hill station and former resort for the British Raj elite, it's surrounded by rolling hills dotted with tea plantations established in the late 19th century. 
    • Arrive at Munnar and check in to your hotel.  
    • 1500hrs : Visit the Tea Museum where one can observe the history and growth of tea estates in the area. We get to watch the transition from the rudimentary tea roller to the modern fully automated tea factory. Various stages of tea processing can be seen. The tour will finish by 1630hrs. 
    • Overnight stay at your hotel in Munnar. 
     
  • Sightseeing at Munnar
    • Breakfast at the hotel. 
    • We recommend to start the morning soft trek through the tea plantation by 0800hrs. Munnar is known as “Trekker’s Haven. Its rocky Terrain and plantations providing the best experience for all those who enjoy pure nature. Letchmi Hill located about 3km from Munnar offers panoramic view of Western Ghats ranges. 
    • We start the trek through the tea plantations. After reaching the top of the hill, the rest of our couple of hours trek will be on the ridge which offers beautiful views around, it will be through grasslands, one side will be rocky mountain slope and the other side will be tea plantations, patches of Shola forest etc. In a clear sky day we could see Anamudi (2695 mts above MSL), the highest peak in the Western Ghats and South India.
    • After lunch visit Eravikulam National Park. The park is open until 1700hrs.  
    • Eravikulam national park in the high ranges of Kerala offers the magnificent view of hills with tea plantations.
    • The national park is a protected area and is divided into three regions - the core area, the buffer area and the tourism area. Visitors are allowed only to the tourism area that is in Rajamala, the region lying beyond the road entry into Eravikulam. Eravikulam is also famous for the natural habitat of Nilgiri Tahr, the endangered mountain goat and this park is built with the aim of conserving them.  
    • Overnight stay at your hotel in Munnar. 
  • Munnar to Thekkady
    • Enjoy breakfast at your hotel.
    • Check out of the hotel and drive to Periyar which is a spice plantation area surrounded by Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. 
    • Afternoon visit the Spice Plantation. We recommend to start the tour by 1500-1530hrs as its open until 1800hrs. 
    • You are taken to a spice garden where the naturalist explains about the spices and details related to their commercial use etc. They get to see spices like cardamom/ginger/pepper/allspice at the garden. 
    • Evening free for shopping at your leisure.
    • Overnight stay at your hotel in Thekkady. 
  • Sightseeing at Thekkady
    • Breakfast at your hotel. 
    • Morning proceed for a boat Ride at Periyar national Park. Boat timing is from 0730hrs to 0930hrs. Boating is one of the best way to see the park . You get to take a boat ride through Periyar lake and a chance to see wild animals when they come to drink water or graze along the lake side. 
    • Afternoon do a Jeep safari (outside national park) and see cardamom curing and drying centre. The duration is about 2 to 2.5 hours and it takes you to cardamom drying and curing area which is done on a commercial basis. 
    • By around 1830hrs, visit to a local family for a Cooking Demo with dinner. Dinner will be served around 1930hrs. 
    • Overnight stay at your hotel in Thekkady. 
  • Thekkady to Kumarakom
    • Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. 
    • Check out and proceed to Kumarakom by a private vehicle. The journey takes around 5 hours. 
    • Check in to your hotel. 
    • Afternoon do a Shikara ride through the narrow canals to see the local life. Shikaras are motorized small canoes which can access narrow canals where large boats cannot go. It is one the best way to see the village life by the backwaters. 
    • Overnight stay at your hotel in Kumarakom. 
  • Depart Cochin
    • Check out of the hotel after our breakfast. 
    • Proceed to Cochin International Airport by a private vehicle. The journey to the airport is around 2 hours from Munnar. 
    • Depart Cochin with beautiful memories.
