0830 Hrs. This morning we will start our tour with a visit to Grand Mosque the most exquisite Mosque in Oman. The entire site covers 416,000 square metres. It can accommodate up to 20,000 worshippers at any one time and consists of a main prayer hall, ladies prayer hall, covered passageways, a meeting hall, and library which can contain up to 20,000 books. A major feature of the main prayer hall is the hand-made Persian carpet. It is made up of 1,700 million knots and weighs a massive 21 tonnes.Note: Ladies visiting the mosque are required to cover their head with scarf and shorts, beachwear and sleeveless clothing are not permitted.Men are required to wear long trousers. Shorts are not allowed.

We will then drive to old Muscat and Visit Mattrah Fort. Built in the 16th century by the Portuguese, the fort was primarily used for military purposes.

After visiting Mattrah fort, we will then continue our adventure through old town Muscat and visit Bait Al Zubair Museum. During your visit you will be able to view a wide range of wonderful collections and pieces that reflect Oman’s rich cultural heritage. One of the highlights of the museum is the traditional Omani weapons collection which features swords, daggers, rifles & their accessories.

We will then drive to the magnificent Al Alam Palace, the official residence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said the ruler of Oman. The palace is an architectural marvel both for its design and its location.

We will then visit Muttrah Souq. Here we will venture through its labyrinthine of alleyways which are filled with traditional Omani products including imported fabrics, exotic Oriental spices, perfumes and handcrafted artefacts. If you are in the mood for shopping you will find everything from famous Omani khanjars (daggers), antiques, traditional silver jewellery, and handicrafts in copper, camel bone, wood, leather and hand-made Omani costumes.

After shopping at souq, transfer back to selected hotel.

First we visit Amouage Perfume factory. Amouage is a world-renowned luxury fragrance brand with origins in the Sultanate. You will get an in-depth look at what happens behind the scenes and see how some of the world’s most exclusive scents are created.

We will then visit Nizwa Souq. The highlight of the Souq is the Cattle Auction which takes place every Friday. We highly recommend you visit if you are in Nizwa on a Friday. You will also have the opportunity to explore the air-conditioned halls of the souq which are lined with stores selling everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to herbs and spices and huge stacks of dates and freshly caught fish.

Later you will visit Nizwa Fort. The 17th century round tower fort is one of Oman’s most impressive towers. While at the fort you will witness truly breath-taking panoramic views of Nizwa and the surrounding plains! Fun fact – The fort was designed to withstand the vibrations of 24 cannons.
