    Australia holiday experiences

    • Most Australians live along the coast and that makes the cities in these areas very diverse and a lot of fun. Sydney is all about the Opera House, beaches and boutiques. Melbourne is the artistic and cultural centre of the country, with winding alleyways and Aussie Rules Football. The country is so huge that in the north, Darwin enjoys a tropical climate, whilst the story is very different down south in Hobart.
    • Probably the most famous attraction is the Great Barrier Reef. Reaching over 200km along the east coast, this natural wonder is truly astonishing. There are lots of ways you can explore the reef, the most obvious being diving and snorkelling. Most of this is boat based, but there are great reefs around the islands to explore too. If you don’t want to get into the water, then a helicopter or seaplane tour is a great option for a different view of the reef.
    • Along with the sea life, Koala bears, kangaroos, platypus and kookaburra are just some of the wildlife you will be able to meet up close in this fantastic country.
    • Australia’s most recognised landmark is the Sydney Opera House (colloquially known as the 'Scrum of Nuns'!). This World Heritage-listed building resembles the sails of a yacht heading out to sea. The best way to experience the building is to see a performance in one of the five spaces. Alternatively, you can take a guided tour and discover the exceptional acoustics that makes it one of the most popular venues for musicians and performers.
    • There is a thriving café culture in Australia and the influence of Asian cultures has led to many traditionally Chinese foods being adopted as Australian. These include dim sum, Chiko Roll, Vegemite, pavlova and meat pies. There are vineyards, which are highly regarded in the wine world, in the southern, cooler parts of the country.
