Ghost & Mysteries of Rome Private Walking Tour

Highlights / General details

At Saint Angelo's Castle seems that there are many ghosts that pass by of which several are death row inmates whose cries still rise from the ancient stones of the Castle. Most famous among them is certainly that of Beatrice Cenci. Beatrice, a beautiful young Roman noblewoman, was sentenced to death for the murder of her father who was a violent man and subjected her to constant abuse. It is said by many, that on the Saint Angelo's bridge her fathers ghost would still appear every year as well as of Maestro Titta, the Executioner. Piazza Navona square, a jewel of the Baroque era, is also affected by "strange apparition" of Constance De Cupis, Roman noblewoman whose presence haunts that family palaces square. She was particularly admired for her beauty, but they predicted she would die before her time. As well, the memory of Donna Olimpia, powerful sister of Innocent X, has been seen at Pamphili palace which had closed it’s residence for years. According to the legend, during the stormy nights, a horse drawn carriage can be seen there with the eyes burning like fire on board. The Temple of all the Gods, Pantheon has a legend started of terrifying legions of devils, the centuries that lived there undisturbed for centuries, floated in the air and exit through the opening of the dome never to come back again.
